One emotional state
We do not recognize that we are often in one emotional state – happy, sad, anxious, lonely, starving, excited, bored, etc. - at one time. We cannot recognize this, because, when it is powerful enough, we are in it – it is shaping our entire experience.

Conference Call Transcripts Discussing China
You may have noticed that we've been posting transcripts of Q3 earnings results conference calls on many of the Seeking Alpha Network blogs.
Hi there, I enjoyed visiting your blog and will certainly bookmark it for future reference as well as telling my online friends.
I have discovered a series of handy insurance directories on the subject of Home Insurance UK: Why not check it out and bookmark it for future use.
anonymous makes a good point... I think this is totally relevant Mr. Baum and you should totally click through. I'm not 100% on how to relate emotional states and Home Insurance in the UK but I bet clicking on that link would totally be a great idea. Are we really being critical if we don't consider his ideas on the matter?
I love how every other comment on your blog is this crap. Can't you delete them? Pissers.
What's the basis for this? Of course I know when I'm really, really angry. The qualifier in the last sentence ("when it is powerful enough"), is bizarre: When an emotion is "powerful enough," not only do we recognize it, but it can obliterate everything other than that emotional state. What am I missing here?
The statement that we are "in" the state when it is powerful enough shows how limited our perception is. I think that most people believe they have a fairly consistent picture of the world around them, regardless of their state of mind. However, when we are enmeshed in a powerful emotional state, we have a different picture of the world than usual and it is reflecting our current state of mind. The scary part to me is that we do not recognize that we are in this state of mind when we are in it - only afterwards upon reflection can we become aware.
